Medica-Lab Group localizes the production of medical devices. We build factories close to the healthcare systems they serve. This shortens supply chains, optimizes cost and keeps service near the patient. Production is localized in both of our markets, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and the model runs through everything we make.

The story began in Egypt in 1984, when Dr Hesham Swilam founded Medica-Lab as a specialist in medical furniture. In 1994 we opened our first factory in Badr City near Cairo. Egyptian hospitals no longer had to import their beds. That first step defined our mission.

We kept building. In 2002 Medica-Lab became a joint-stock company and opened a second factory of 5,000 m², adding mortuary refrigeration, today's Preservus line. In 2010 a third factory brought state-of-the-art machinery. Along the way we equipped 400 rural health units, 190 women's health units and 50 integrated hospitals across Egypt.

In 2018 the group acquired HOSPIcare®, the French hospital bed brand, and moved its headquarters to Paris. In 2022 we took the model to Saudi Arabia. Our Madinah factory is licensed by the SFDA as a local manufacturer, and its products carry the Saudi Made mark. World-class hospital beds, made in the Kingdom, for the Kingdom.

The newest chapter is our partnership with AIIM, the German surgical instruments brand from Hüfingen. AIIM remains an independent international brand. Under our agreement, Medica-Lab manufactures AIIM instruments in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi market. Today the group exports to more than 15 countries and serves over 500 institutions. One idea still drives us: produce close to the need, and never compromise on quality.
